ISP Field Technician - Fiber & Network Infrastructure

NJ | CT | Westchester | Long Island | NY POPs

$35-$38/hr | Long-Term Project | Field-Based | Travel Required

The Opportunity

We're placing experienced ISP Field Technicians on a long-term infrastructure project supporting a major service provider network across the NY/NJ metro region. You'll work directly with a Network Engineering team on hub migrations, POP upgrades, and new device installations - the kind of hands-on, high-visibility work that keeps carrier-grade networks running. If you know your way around a headend and can execute a MOP without hand-holding, we want to talk.

What You'll Be Doing

• Installing, racking, and cabling fiber optic and network equipment in hub, headend, and central office environments
• Performing fiber testing - OTDR, power meter, light loss - and validating results
• Supporting customer migrations between network devices with zero service interruption
• Installing and seeding optical transport and routing equipment
• Executing detailed MOPs accurately and on schedule
• Entering CLI configuration commands into Ciena, Cisco, and other platforms (configs provided)
• Updating documentation and ticketing as work is completed
• Traveling across NJ, CT, Westchester, Long Island, and various POP locations

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience in hub, headend, or central office environments
• Strong fiber optic installation and testing skills - this is the core of the role
• Background supporting service provider or carrier-grade networks
• Familiarity with optical transport platforms: Ciena, Adtran, Lucent, Cisco, Juniper
• Solid Layer 1 troubleshooting and physical installation skills (rack/stack, cabling, grounding, power)
• Ability to read and execute detailed MOPs
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle - you'll be on the road regularly
• CCNA-level knowledge a plus; certification preferred but not required

Nice to Have

• Experience with network migrations or customer cutovers
• Familiarity with Cisco IOS, Ciena SAOS, Junos, or similar CLI environments
• Prior work in carrier hotels or technical hub sites

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
