Senior  – Microsoft Power BI & Enterprise Analytics/Developer

Location: Remote
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect specializing in Microsoft Power BI and enterprise data analytics to design, optimize, and govern scalable BI and analytics solutions. This role is responsible for semantic modeling, enterprise data architecture alignment, performance engineering, Fabric integration, and Azure-based data platform integration.
The ideal candidate combines deep Power BI expertise with strong Azure data engineering capabilities and experience in financial services analytics environments.

Core Responsibilities
Enterprise BI Architecture
• Architect enterprise semantic models using:
o Power BI Premium / Fabric Capacity
o Composite models
o DirectQuery, Import, Hybrid models
• Design star schemas and dimensional data models.
• Implement enterprise dataset governance and certified datasets.
• Define tenant-wide governance (workspace strategy, access controls).
Data Platform & Integration
• Design integration with:
o Dataverse
o Azure SQL
o Azure Databricks
o Microsoft Fabric
• Build and optimize ETL pipelines using Dataflows.
• Implement data partitioning, incremental refresh, and performance optimization.
Advanced Analytics & Modeling
• Develop advanced DAX calculations
• Implement row-level security (RLS) and object-level security (OLS).
• Conduct performance tuning using:
o DAX Studio
o Performance Analyzer
o Tabular Editor
• Develop calculation groups and advanced semantic layer enhancements.
Security & Compliance
• Design secure data access models using:
o Service accounts
o Service principals
o Managed identities
• Implement data classification and sensitivity labels.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulatory standards.
• Establish least-privilege access patterns.
Performance Engineering
• Optimize dataset refresh performance.
• Implement query folding strategies.
• Design scalable architecture for large data volumes (multi-billion row datasets).
• Optimize memory utilization in Premium capacities.
• Conduct load testing and concurrency planning.
Collaboration & Business Alignment
• Partner with finance, M&A, capital markets teams to define KPIs and reporting standards.
• Translate business logic into robust semantic layer design.
• Mentor BI developers and establish modeling standards.
• Document architecture and operational runbooks.
 
Required Qualifications
• 7+ years in BI/analytics architecture.
• 5+ years of deep Power BI development experience.
• Advanced DAX expertise.
• Strong SQL proficiency and performance optimization experience.
• Experience with Azure data platform (ADF, Synapse, Databricks).
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Lakehouse architecture.
• Experience implementing enterprise BI governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles.
• Financial services domain experience (investment banking, M&A, capital markets preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
