Location: San Antonio, Texas (On-site, 5 days/week)
Employment Type: 6 month contract with potential to extend
Role Overview
We are seeking two experienced ABAP Backend Developers for a contract role extending through the end of 2026. This position involves building a custom application within an S/4HANA environment. The role requires working on-site a minimum of four days per week, with a preference for five days. The developer must have the ability to work independently with little guidance to develop complex ABAP solutions from high-level functional design documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver complex custom ABAP solutions independently within an S/4HANA environment.
- Work with technical and functional teams to design, analyze, and develop prioritized solutions.
- Utilize Object-Oriented ABAP, CDS views, RFC, BAPI, and BADI for custom development.
- Extend and integrate new solutions with pre-existing custom applications.
- Resolve system defects identified during the testing phase.
- Adhere to development standards and follow the change management process for deployment.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the solution's application architecture and database structure.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working across different technical and functional domains.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with S/4HANA and Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP).
- Proficiency with Core Data Services (CDS) views, OData, and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
- Strong skills in full lifecycle ABAP custom development, including RFC, BADI, BAPI, and enhancement frameworks.
- Experience with ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP).
- Ability to work independently and develop solutions from high-level functional design documents.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a UI5 project to understand the architecture.
- Familiarity with new S/4HANA coding syntax and best practices.
