Senior Network Test Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Network Test Engineer to join a technology and infrastructure team focused on ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise network environments and connected systems. This role is responsible for validating network infrastructure, applications, devices, and integrated technologies across lab, testing, staging, pilot, and production environments.

The ideal candidate will work closely with Network Engineering, Information Security, Operations, Product, and Vendor teams to identify risks, develop test strategies, execute validation efforts, troubleshoot issues, and support successful technology deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business, technical, and operational requirements to identify risks and define test coverage.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and validation strategies.
• Review infrastructure changes, system enhancements, and network implementations to ensure requirements are testable and complete.
• Design and execute positive, negative, boundary, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing scenarios.
• Build and maintain representative lab and test environments that mirror production configurations.
• Perform functional, integration, and system testing following infrastructure or application changes.
• Validate network connectivity, DNS resolution, routing, firewall rules, device configurations, and access controls.
• Conduct network performance testing, including latency, bandwidth utilization, packet loss, throughput, and response-time analysis.
• Execute failover, recovery, resiliency, and stability testing to validate business continuity requirements.
• Test applications, cloud services, connected devices, endpoints, peripherals, and third-party integrations.
• Capture and analyze logs, packet traces, screenshots, and test evidence to support defect identification and root-cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot issues across network, application, infrastructure, security, and device layers.
• Manage defects through triage, prioritization, retesting, validation, and closure.
• Coordinate testing efforts across project teams, vendors, operational stakeholders, and technical leadership.
• Support pilot deployments, production readiness reviews, post-deployment validation, and issue resolution activities.
• Evaluate and recommend wired and wireless networking approaches based on performance, reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Improve testing efficiency through automation, scripting, reusable test assets, and standardized processes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years of experience in network testing, infrastructure testing, quality engineering, systems testing, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:

• Experience validating infrastructure changes, network configurations, and application connectivity.
• Hands-on experience performing connectivity, performance, failover, recovery, resiliency, and stability testing.
• Experience designing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end test scenarios.
• Proficiency using packet capture and network analysis tools such as Wireshark.
• Experience utilizing troubleshooting tools including ping, traceroute, nslookup, dig, and related diagnostic utilities.
• Ability to isolate and diagnose networking, configuration, application, security, and connectivity issues.
• Experience interpreting logs, monitoring outputs, and technical error messages.
• Strong knowledge of test management methodologies and requirement traceability.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, or similar technologies.
• Experience testing cloud-connected applications, APIs, hardware integrations, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with network automation, scripting, and test automation frameworks.
• Experience supporting large-scale deployments, pilot programs, production rollouts, and operational readiness initiatives.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, change management processes, and infrastructure governance.
• Experience developing reusable automation tools, validation scripts, or diagnostic solutions.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Relevant certifications are preferred, including:
