Summary

Product Quality Engineer (Contract)


Location: Toledo, OH


Pay: Up to $27.59/hr.

We are seeking an Electrical Root Cause & Launch Support Engineer to support vehicle assembly plant quality, launch readiness, and customer-driven issue resolution. This is a hands-on manufacturing role focused on identifying, analyzing, and resolving electrical and product quality issues while ensuring alignment with corporate quality standards.

Key Responsibilities


  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" within the assembly plant

  • Monitor and manage key quality KPIs, driving corrective actions and escalation when needed

  • Review warranty and Customer Quality Insight (CQI) data daily; track and stratify issues

  • Support resolution of chronic quality concerns including warranty issues, recalls, RSUs, and CSNs

  • Drive vehicle quality improvements by addressing nonconformance to performance targets

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to meet program timing

  • Utilize FMEA and other problem-solving tools to identify risks and root causes

  • Support implementation of control plans, PFMEAs, and manufacturing standards

  • Assist in containment and defect prevention to ensure quality vehicles do not escape the plant

  • Support launch and production issues in final assembly and vehicle evaluation areas

  • Escalate critical product issues, including initiating line stops and yard holds when required

  • Manage product and process changes through risk assessment and station readiness processes

  • Lead resolution of critical quality and customer safety issues


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field

  • Strong data analysis skills with ability to identify trends and drive corrective action

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Experience with structured problem-solving tools

  • Strong communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and engage on the shop floor


Preferred Experience


  • Advanced degree or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, product engineering, or Tier 1 supplier environments

  • Background in root cause analysis and complex quality issue resolution
