Summary

Position Summary:

  • We are seeking a Content Engineer / Jr. Python Developer whose technical responsibility will be for developing and managing the technology that drives the product.
  • The role is crucial in ensuring that content received from third-party vendors are scripted and added/updated into the system.
  • The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with any development programming language like PHP, Java, Python and other scripting languages and tools. Should have knowledge of XML and JSON and experienced working with APIs.

Duties and responsibilities: Content Engineer:

  • Content Modeling and Structure: Designing and developing content models, taxonomies, and metadata to organize and structure content effectively. This ensures clarity, consistency, and reusability of content.
  • Scripting and Code Development: Creating and maintaining scripts, code, and integrations using various technologies (like HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, Python, Java, PHP, etc.) to automate content tasks, improve workflows, and personalize content experiences.
  • Content Integration and Delivery: Ensuring seamless integration of content with various systems and tools (e.g., Content Management Systems, APIs) and facilitating efficient content delivery across multiple channels.
  • Content Strategy and Implementation: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align content with product updates, technical insights, and overall content strategy.
  • Technical Documentation and Writing: Developing and maintaining technical documentation, user guides, and other materials to support content creation and delivery.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Identifying and resolving technical issues related to content systems, workflows, and content pipelines.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate application errors using logs, and diagnostics tools; interpret XML and JSON data to identify and resolve data formatting or API-related issues.
  • SQL & Data Analysis: Write and run SQL queries to inspect database records, verify data integrity, and troubleshoot user-specific issues.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with development team and QA to escalate bugs, share diagnostics, and contribute to product fixes and improvements.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain internal runbooks and external help articles for recurring issues, configuration guides, and API usage examples.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Review logs, alerts, and performance indicators to detect and act on potential customer-impacting issues before any escalation.
  • Vendor Communication: Engage with vendors who provide data via their API. Work with vendors over phone and/or email during issue resolution.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2 4 years of programming experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PHP, Java), and data management concepts.
  • Content Modeling Expertise: Understanding of content modeling principles, metadata models, and information architecture
  • Prior experience in utilizing APIs (Restful JSON, XML) to parse and store relevant content in RDBMS systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting logs, stack traces, and error messages.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, including the ability to analyze and troubleshoot API requests/responses using tools like Postman or cURL.
  • Working knowledge of PHP and/or Java for basic code interpretation and debugging.
  • Experience with SQL for querying databases to identify or validate issues.
  • Familiarity with structured data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, HTTP status codes, SSL/TLS).

Tools & Platforms:

  • Experience using a ticketing system such as YouTrack, Jira, Zendesk, or similar.
  • Experience working in version control environments (e.g., Git).

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating technical issues to non-technical users and writing documentation.
  • Ability to maintain a customer-focused mindset while dealing with escalations and complex issues.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to isolate problems and identify root causes.
  • Ability to replicate and test issues in controlled environments.

Collaboration:

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Engineering, QA, and Product teams.
  • Experience participating in bug triaging or issue prioritization discussions is a plus.

Education (optional or preferred):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience.
