The hiring manager will need two candidates. Ideally, one candidate will have PowerShell and Kubernetes experience, and the other will have Terraform and Kubernetes experience, if we are unable to find a single candidate with all three skillsets.

Role Summary
The AWS Architect / Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role combines hands on engineering with architectural responsibility, ensuring AWS environments are secure, scalable, cost effective, and aligned to business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
AWS Architecture & Design
• Design AWS architectures for cloud native, containerized, and traditional workloads.
• Define solution designs covering:
o Networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing)
o Compute (EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda)
o Storage and databases (S3, RDS, EBS, EFS)
• Ensure solutions align with AWS Well Architected Framework principles for security, reliability, performance, cost, and scalability.

Hands On AWS Engineering
• Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).
• Build and support container based platforms using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using AWS native tools.
• Perform performance tuning and cost optimization of AWS workloads.

Security, Networking & Reliability
• Implement AWS security best practices, including:
o IAM least privilege access
o Network segmentation and security groups
o Encryption in transit and at rest
• Design high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies using multi AZ or multi region patterns.

DevOps & Automation
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment models.
• Enable repeatable environment provisioning through IaC and pipeline integration.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on release strategies, environment promotion, and rollback patterns.
• Use CLI based tooling (AWS CLI, kubectl) for build, validation, and troubleshooting.

Collaboration & Documentation
• Work closely with developers, testers, DevOps, and product teams.
• Translate business and non functional requirements into technical designs.
• Produce architecture diagrams, build documentation, and operational guidelines.
• Participate in design reviews and technical decision forums.

Required Skills & Experience
AWS Technical Skills
• Strong experience with AWS core services, including:
o VPC, EC2, IAM, ALB/NLB
o S3, RDS, DynamoDB
o CloudWatch, CloudTrail
• Hands on experience with:
o Containers and Kubernetes (EKS, Docker)
o Serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway)
• Proficiency with AWS CLI and scripting for automation.

• Ability to both design and implement cloud solutions.
• Experience defining reference architectures and reusable patterns.
• Understanding of cloud cost management and performance optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

• 6–12+ years of total IT experience.
• 3–6+ years of hands on AWS experience in engineering or architecture roles.
• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Experience in regulated or enterprise environments.
• Exposure to healthcare, financial services, or mission critical platforms.
• Familiarity with hybrid or multi cloud environments.
