Client: Photon
Position: Enterprise Solution Architect
Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite)
Duration: Contract & Full time
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber Enterprise Solutions Architect to design and oversee the technical foundation of a mission-critical retail modernization project. You will be responsible for defining the architecture that enables an MVP to function seamlessly across customer-facing workflows while integrating with legacy systems. Your primary challenge will be designing a robust API and routing layer that ensures performance, security, and scalability for a multi-vertical pilot rollout.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural Discovery: Lead the technical discovery phase to define the end-to-end architecture, ensuring it supports the validated UX and functional requirements.
API & Routing Layer Design: Design and oversee the implementation of the API integration layer that bridges modern front-end workflows with legacy backend data.
System Integration: Map complex data flows for Search, Quoting, Inventory, and Payment modules, ensuring data integrity across disparate systems.
Technical Strategy: Define the "long-term platform vision," ensuring the MVP architecture is modular enough to support future waves, advanced features, and multi-vertical expansion.
Device & Hardware Readiness: Collaborate on device assessments to ensure the architectural stack supports the necessary hardware and POS peripherals.
Performance & Scalability: Establish benchmarks for system latency and reliability, particularly for real-time inventory and payment processing.
Technical Governance: Provide guidance to engineering teams on build-phase execution, ensuring alignment with the defined technical architecture and MVP scope.
Required Experience & Skills
Enterprise Architecture: 12+ years of experience in systems architecture, with a proven track record of leading large-scale Digital Transformation or legacy-to-cloud migrations.
Integration Expertise: Deep mastery of API-first design, microservices, and middleware routing layers used to wrap legacy system functionalities.
Retail/Fintech Domain: Extensive experience with Point of Sale (POS), e-commerce engines, or high-volume transactional platforms.
Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of secure data transmission and payment integration standards (e.g., PCI-DSS).
Strategic Communication: Ability to translate complex technical constraints into clear roadmaps for stakeholders and cross-functional design teams.
