Location: Sleepy Hollow, NY
Salary: $55.00 USD Hourly - $60.00 USD Hourly
Description: Our client is currently seeking a CAE Structural Analyst for a 12 month + contract.
Apply now for the position of CAE/Structural Analyst in our global R&D organization. We are looking for a CAE Analyst with a strong technical background in Structural Analysis, Mechanical Engineering, CAE methods and tools with a penchant for innovation. You will be reporting to the Director of Mechatronics & Structures in the mechanical engineering team. We are looking for someone who can drive robustness and optimality in the structural design of our subsystems through CAE simulations (Structural Analysis) for future Laboratory Diagnostic instruments and automation platforms. In this role, you would also champion improvement of our existing simulation methods and best practices.
Your role:
You will perform Structural Analysis simulations to guide structural design of our future Instrument platforms as well as to aid reliability improvements and design changes to existing Instruments.
You will apply best-in-class CAE methods and practices to Structural Analysis to enable optimally robust structural designs.
Proficiency in Siemens NX (CAD) and Simcenter 3D Structures is required.
Must be familiar with basic Material Science, structural failure mechanisms and theories.
Knowledge of nonlinear FEA is highly desirable.
Must possess good knowledge of commonly used Engineering/Structural plastics.
Experience with development of Multibody Dynamics models in Simcenter 3D Motion is highly desirable.
Exposure to Design Optimization methods (particularly, HEEDS), is highly desirable.
You will develop designs and CAD models in support of test platform development as well as new concept prototypes.
You will contribute to developing prototypes and test platforms for new design concepts.
Experience with CAE tools for other Physics and Mechanics simulations (Electromagnetics, Fluidics, Thermal-structural coupled simulations, Acoustics) would be a plus.
You will be responsible for guiding design engineers in executing the mechatronics design cycle that involves understanding design requirements, concept generation, design selection, and driving simulation-based mechanical / structural design optimization and robustness.
You will work with mechatronics specialists as well as design and test engineers from Mechanical Engineering to develop and integrate novel, improved and cost-effective Structural Design solutions for Instrument and Automation platforms.
You will participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams.
You will actively be part of the continuous improvement efforts within the Mechatronics Engineering function by contributing to development of improved modeling and simulation techniques, and authoring CAE / Structural Analysis best practices.
You will actively participate in the identification of potential technical problems and provide effective solutions through original and innovative thinking.
Your expertise:
You possess a solid understanding of fundamentals of mechanics, dynamics, mechanical engineering and CAE methods & tools
You have a strong background and experience in CAE-based Structural Analysis.
You have working knowledge of Siemens NX CAD software and Simcenter 3D Structures.
Your working knowledge of structured design optimization methods (including Bayesian Optimization) schemes would be a plus.
Prior experience with Simcenter 3D Motion would be highly desirable.
Experience with Multiphysics / Coupled Physics modeling involving Structures, acoustics, fluidics would be a plus.
Experience with scripting using NX Open is highly desirable
Your familiarity with statistical methods, Design of Experiments, and data analysis is highly desirable.
You have a strong "system thinking" approach to problem solving.
You are a team player with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Required skills and education to have for the success of this role
Bachelors/Masters/Doctoral degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace/Biomedical/Mechatronics Engineering or Engineering Physics.
Knowledge of Siemens NX CAD software is required.
Relevant prior work experience of 2-15+ years is preferred. However, candidates of all experience levels may be considered depending on their prior academic and work background, experience, and education level.
Prior experience in product development for medical, aerospace, automotive, factory automation, robotics, and Precision Instruments industry is preferred.
