Our client is seeking a Security Architect for Remote Opportunity

Role Description

We are seeking a hands-on, highly skilled Security Architect to support the design, review, and implementation of secure systems across our connected devices and smart technology ecosystem. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring that security is deeply embedded into every stage of product development-from architecture and design through deployment and customer-facing enablement.
This role requires an architect who brings both broad security experience and the ability to deep dive into threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk management across IoT devices, cloud services, mobile applications, and backend systems.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Design Leadership
Provide security consulting to development squads building smart devices, cloud services, applications, and connected systems.
Drive secure architecture decisions and validate designs for resilience, least privilege, secure communication, and data protection.
Review system architectures, data flows, trust boundaries, APIs, and CI/CD configurations.
Threat Modeling & Vulnerability Identification
Perform threat modeling using tools such as:
Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool
OWASP Threat Dragon
ThreatModeler
Apply methodologies such as STRIDE and DREAD to identify risks early in the design lifecycle.
Risk Assessment & Management
Conduct architecture-level security assessments.
Identify, document, and prioritize vulnerabilities in a risk register.
Collaborate with engineering teams to drive remediation of Critical/High risks through closure.
Communicate risk-based trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Cloud & Connected Device Security
Assess and improve the security posture of cloud services (primary focus: Azure; secondary: AWS/Google Cloud Platform).
Ensure secure APIs and communication paths between backend systems and connected/IoT devices.
Apply core security principles to smart devices, mobile apps, web apps, and cloud workloads.
DevOps & Continuous Improvement
Work with DevOps teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines.
Recommend and help implement proactive controls and automated security measures.
Update security baselines for firmware, software, and product development based on evolving threats.
Customer & Sales Support
Partner with sales and marketing teams to address customer security inquiries.
Create customer-facing documentation and security collateral as needed.

Skills and Requirement

5+ years in cybersecurity architecture.
8+ years in IT or networking with experience in securing connected or distributed systems.
Technical Expertise
Application and API security
Cloud security (Azure strongly preferred)
Identity, authentication, and authorization
Network and communication security, including device-to-cloud
Experience reviewing or designing secure system architectures
Familiarity with software development and security testing is a plus
Security Knowledge
Strong understanding of vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies
(e.g., SQL injection, privilege escalation, buffer overflows).
Experience securing IoT devices, mobile apps, gateways, embedded systems, and backend services.
Certifications (Preferred)
CISSP, CISM, or similar security certifications.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field OR equivalent professional experience.
Communication Skills
Ability to create clear, actionable security documentation.
Comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
Able to explain risk-based decisions and security trade-offs pragmatically.
