Description:
The General Manager of Industrial Construction serves as a key member of our clients leadership team, responsible for directing all aspects of construction operations across the company's industrial design-build portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role provides executive oversight of project execution through a team of Industrial Project Executives, ensuring the successful delivery of large-scale, technically complex projects in the automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, electronics manufacturing, and data-center sectors.
This position combines strategic vision with operational excellence-championing safety, quality, and performance consistency across multiple active job sites nationwide. The General Manager of Industrial Construction fosters a culture of collaboration, precision, and continuous improvement consistent with global heritage and reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities:
Provide executive leadership and direction to Project Executives managing concurrent industrial design-build and EPC projects across the United States.
Establish and maintain company-wide industrial construction standards, procedures, and best practices aligned with the North America's operational objectives.
Oversee safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance across all active industrial projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company expectations.
Collaborate closely with Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Preconstruction teams to ensure project readiness and seamless phase transitions from Pre-construction through Closeout.
Review and approve project execution plans, budgets, staffing assignments, and key subcontractor selections.
Mentor and develop Project Executives and senior field leaders, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and leadership growth.
Drive performance metrics, reporting, and forecasting systems to ensure predictable project outcomes.
Support business development by providing operational insight into pursuits, proposals, and client relationships.
Lead strategic initiatives in construction technology adoption, safety innovation, and lean delivery methods.
Serve as a key representative of North America in executive-level client meetings and joint venture discussions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in industrial construction, with at least 8 years in senior leadership roles overseeing multiple large industrial projects.
Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary design-build or EPC projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams of Project Executives, Project Managers, and Superintendents across geographically dispersed sites.
Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, risk management, and contract administration.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Construction Management, or Engineering).
Professional credentials such as P.E. PMP, or DBIA certification.
Experience working within global or Japanese-affiliated organizations, with an appreciation for cross-cultural collaboration.
Familiarity with Procore or equivalent enterprise project-management platforms.
