Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in Life Sciences to define and drive end-to-end business and technology architecture across regulated, data-driven environments. This role will shape enterprise-wide technology strategy across R&D, Clinical, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, and Commercial domains, ensuring scalable, compliant, and high-performing digital ecosystems.
The architect will act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, translating business priorities into robust architecture blueprints and enabling modern, cloud-enabled, and data-driven Life Sciences platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Define and manage enterprise-wide architecture strategy, including target state models, capability roadmaps, and reference architectures for Life Sciences organizations
- Lead architecture governance and ensure alignment with business outcomes, regulatory requirements, and long-term enterprise goals
- Drive adoption of architecture standards across business and technology teams in a complex, matrixed environment
Business & Technology Alignment
- Translate business objectives such as regulatory compliance, product quality, operational efficiency, and time-to-market into architectural requirements
- Align enterprise capabilities with business processes, services, platforms, and operating models
- Ensure architecture decisions support scalability, resilience, security, and observability across systems
Life Sciences Domain Architecture
- Architect integrated ecosystems across regulated Life Sciences functions including:
- R&D and Clinical Operations
- Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance/Safety
- Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- Quality Management and Commercial Operations
- Support industry segments including Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, MedTech, Diagnostics, and Consumer Health
- Work across partner ecosystems including CROs, CMOs/CDMOs, and distributors
Platform & Application Architecture
- Design and guide architecture for enterprise platforms such as:
- ERP systems
- LIMS, MES, QMS, CTMS
- CRM and regulatory systems
- Manufacturing and supply chain platforms
- Balance packaged solutions vs. custom development, ensuring sustainability and upgrade readiness
- Define integration strategies across enterprise systems and third-party applications
Integration & Data Architecture
- Define enterprise integration strategies including API-first, event-driven, and microservices-based architectures
- Establish data architecture standards covering MDM, data governance, identity, and observability
- Enable secure and governed data flows across R&D, clinical, manufacturing, and commercial domains
- Support AI/ML and GenAI use cases with proper data controls and architecture foundations
Cloud, AI & Modern Architecture
- Design hybrid and cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, automation, and intelligent document processing
- Enable scalable digital platforms using microservices, event streaming, and modern engineering practices
Operational Excellence & Reliability
- Define non-functional requirements including availability, latency, scalability, and resiliency for regulated environments
- Ensure architecture supports operational realities such as batch processing, global manufacturing, and regulatory submissions
- Strengthen system reliability, performance, and compliance across enterprise platforms
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to CIO, CTO, and business leadership teams
- Translate architectural decisions into clear business outcomes, risks, and trade-offs
- Lead cross-functional architecture discussions across multiple workstreams and business units
- Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment on enterprise technology strategy
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of experience in Enterprise or Solution Architecture roles
- Strong experience in regulated industries (preferably Life Sciences) or complex enterprise environments
- Proven expertise in architecting package-based and hybrid enterprise systems
- Deep understanding of:
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture
- Data architecture, governance, and integration patterns
- Experience defining enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and roadmaps
- Strong leadership experience managing architecture teams or large cross-functional initiatives
- Familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot-style platforms) for architecture acceleration
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence decision-making in large, complex organizations
