Overview
A large municipal organization serving one of the nation’s largest metropolitan populations is seeking a senior?level Copilot Studio and Azure AI professional to analyze, stabilize, and modernize an existing, enterprise?scale conversational AI platform.
This role focuses on improving and extending a mature Copilot Studio implementation, not building a net?new solution. The current platform supports a public?facing virtual assistant with hundreds of topics and is a critical digital service for residents, businesses, and internal teams.
You will play a key role in advancing how artificial intelligence supports digital services across public websites, internal portals, and collaboration platforms, helping a major city take its AI capabilities to the next level.
What You’ll Do
As a senior technical resource, you will evaluate and enhance an existing Copilot Studio agent containing approximately 600 topics, ensuring it is scalable, accurate, maintainable, and aligned with modern Azure AI best practices.
<>Copilot Studio Analysis & Optimization>
- Review a large?scale Copilot Studio agent to identify:
- Redundant or overlapping topics
- Routing inefficiencies and performance issues
- Gaps where generative or RAG?based approaches would improve quality
- Refactor and streamline topic structure to improve maintainability and user experience
- Convert static, rule?based topics to grounded generative experiences where appropriate
<>Azure AI / Foundry Enhancements>
- Modernize the solution by introducing Azure AI and Azure AI Foundry capabilities, potentially including:
- Cognitive Search with vector embeddings
- Custom retrieval?augmented generation (RAG) endpoints
- Function and tool calling to support deeper reasoning
- Improved document and website grounding for higher accuracy and control
- Replace legacy website ingestion methods with newer Azure AI approaches
<>Advanced Capabilities>
- Implement new AI features such as:
- Summarization
- Advanced query understanding
- Context persistence across long conversations
- Multi?step reasoning and orchestration
- Improve answer quality for complex, multi?turn user interactions
<>Architecture, Handoff & Enablement>
- Design a scalable Copilot architecture that internal teams can maintain after handoff
- Act as a technical lead, guiding architectural decisions and best practices
- Document enhancements, patterns, and configurations
- Produce troubleshooting guides and operational playbooks
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep, hands?on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio
- Strong working knowledge of Azure AI and Azure AI Foundry
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, refactor, and optimize existing AI solutions
- Experience designing and operating production?grade AI systems
Ideal Background
- Two to three or more years building or integrating LLM?based solutions on Azure
- Production experience with Copilot Studio or Azure AI Foundry, ideally at enterprise scale
- Hands?on RAG experience using Azure Cognitive Search, including:
- Index design
- Chunking strategies
- Data enrichment pipelines
- Strong prompt engineering, testing frameworks, and evaluation methodologies
- Ability to serve as a technical lead, mentoring internal teams and setting best practices
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
