Company Overview
NTT DATA is a global innovator and trusted provider of business and technology services, serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100. We are committed to building an inclusive, adaptable, and forward‐thinking organization where passionate individuals can grow and make meaningful impact.
Role Overview
NTT DATA is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to advance developer productivity through Copilot‐first workflows, Generative AI solutioning, and autonomous agent development. This role is central to our Developer Experience (DX) strategy, enabling modern, AI‐augmented engineering practices at scale.
You will act as a hands‐on technical leader and evangelist for GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and related Generative AI platforms—researching, evaluating, and operationalizing emerging AI capabilities that measurably improve how software is built and delivered.
Success in this role is measured by adoption, efficiency gains, and scalable enablement—not experimentation alone.
Key Responsibilities
Copilot & Developer Productivity Enablement
- Drive adoption and advanced usage of GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Copilot, including Copilot Chat and agent‐based workflows.
- Identify high‐impact AI use cases across the SDLC (coding, testing, refactoring, documentation, CI/CD).
- Establish best practices, reusable patterns, and guardrails for AI‐assisted development.
Generative AI & Autonomous Agent Development
- Design and implement agentic AI solutions to automate and orchestrate developer workflows.
- Build and evaluate autonomous or semi‐autonomous agents for code generation, validation, remediation, and workflow automation.
- Prototype and productionize emerging AI capabilities with clear, measurable DX value.
Copilot Studio & Power Platform
- Build and extend copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio for engineering and operational use cases.
- Leverage Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) to integrate AI capabilities into existing tools and workflows.
- Enable low‐code and pro‐code collaboration through reusable components and templates.
Platform Strategy & Architecture
- Assess existing developer tooling and AI capabilities to identify gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities.
- Define scalable architectures and reusable frameworks for AI‐powered development.
- Partner with security, platform, and architecture teams to ensure compliant and responsible AI adoption.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as a subject‐matter expert for Copilot platforms and Generative AI development tools.
- Mentor engineers through guidance, demos, and hands‐on enablement.
- Contribute to roadmaps for AI‐driven Developer Experience initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands‐on software engineering experience (Python, Java, C#, or similar).
- Practical experience building Generative AI solutions in production environments.
- Experience using GitHub Copilot and AI‐assisted development workflows.
- Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, and RAG patterns.
- Proven ability to evaluate, pilot, and operationalize emerging technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous or agentic AI programming.
- Hands‐on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio and Power Platform.
- Background in Developer Experience (DX), platform engineering, or productivity tooling.
- Experience working in large‐scale or regulated enterprise environments.
What Success Looks Like
- Measurable improvements in developer velocity and workflow efficiency.
- Broad adoption of Copilot‐based development practices across teams.
- Reduced friction throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Scalable, reusable AI patterns deployed enterprise‐wide.
Why This Role Matters
- Shape how AI transforms software development at enterprise scale.
- Influence modern, Copilot‐first engineering workflows.
- Enable engineers to focus on higher‐value problem solving.
- Help define the future of AI‐driven developer productivity.
