Role Overview
A MuleSoft Architect is responsible for defining and governing enterprise integration architecture using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. This role focuses on establishing API strategies, designing scalable integration solutions, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in MuleSoft, API-led connectivity, and integration governance, along with strong leadership in driving enterprise-wide integration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design
- Define and own enterprise integration architecture using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
- Design API-led connectivity frameworks (System, Process, Experience APIs)
- Create high-level and low-level architecture designs (HLD/LLD) aligned with business and IT strategy
- Ensure reusability, scalability, and standardization across integrations
Integration Strategy & Governance
- Define and enforce API governance, standards, and best practices
- Establish enterprise-wide integration patterns and frameworks
- Lead API lifecycle management strategy (design, versioning, publishing, monitoring)
- Drive adoption of reusable assets and shared services
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a technical leader and advisor to business and IT stakeholders
- Lead architecture discussions, workshops, and design reviews
- Provide guidance and mentorship to MuleSoft developers and integration teams
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, security teams, and DevOps teams
Performance, Security & Compliance
- Define security architecture (OAuth 2.0, JWT, policies, encryption)
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory standards
- Architect solutions for high availability, scalability, and performance optimization
- Oversee risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Delivery Oversight & DevOps Enablement
- Provide oversight on end-to-end delivery of integration solutions
- Define CI/CD strategies and deployment models for MuleSoft applications
- Ensure alignment with cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid integrations
- Support production issue resolution for critical integration challenges
Documentation & Governance Artifacts
- Produce and maintain architecture documents, standards, and guidelines
- Define integration blueprints, reference architectures, and playbooks
- Provide executive-level reporting on integration landscape and initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 10+ years of IT experience, with 3+ years as MuleSoft Architect
- Strong experience in enterprise integration architecture
Certifications (Highly Preferred)
- MuleSoft Certified Platform Architect (MCPA)
- MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect (MCIA)
Required Skills
- Expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (API Manager, Runtime Manager, Anypoint Studio)
- Strong experience in API-led connectivity architecture
- Deep knowledge of integration patterns (event-driven, batch, real-time, pub-sub)
- Expertise in API design (RAML / OpenAPI)
- Strong understanding of security frameworks (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, TLS)
- Experience with microservices and distributed architecture
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with event streaming platforms (Kafka, messaging systems)
- Background in Java, .NET, or Python
