We are seeking a self-sufficient, problem-solving Data Engineer to support the Power & Energy accounting & finance data environment. The role focuses on keeping critical ETL and data pipelines running, migrating and modernizing ETL processes (on-prem cloud/modern DW), and enabling reliable, production-quality data for ~600 users. The ideal candidate is hands-on with SQL and Python, experienced with ETL/warehouse operations, comfortable working independently on a fragmented environment, and able to quickly diagnose and resolve data issues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain production ETL pipelines and data integration workflows (on-prem and cloud).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies, pipeline failures, and performance issues to "keep the wheels on the bus."
  • Support migration efforts (e.g., Teradata / Alteryx Snowflake / SQL-based ETL) and re-implement ETL logic using SQL/Python.
  • Maintain and optimize on-prem SQL Server databases supporting business users; support backups, performance tuning, and capacity planning as needed.
  • Build, document, and maintain reliable, auditable data processes and runbooks.
  • Leverage automation and modern tooling (including AI/ML tools where applicable) to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Work with offshore/IDC teams and contractors to coordinate deliveries and provide technical direction as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3 5 years experience in data engineering, ETL operations, or similar roles (years flexible depending on skill).
  • Strong SQL skills (T-SQL / SQL Server) - experience maintaining production SQL Server environments.
  • Proficient in Python for data processing and automation.
  • Practical experience with ETL design, troubleshooting, and pipeline maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work, and drive issues to resolution with minimal oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new tools/solutions quickly.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with finance/accounting stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience with Alteryx and/or migrating off Alteryx.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Teradata, or other modern data warehouse platforms.
  • Exposure to cloud services (AWS preferred) - pipeline/orchestration experience (e.g., Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Airflow, etc.).
  • Familiarity with PL/SQL and other database scripting languages.
  • Experience working in large, fragmented enterprise environments and with cross-border teams
