Job Description:
Overview

We are seeking a Lead Domain Architect to serve as the primary architectural authority for a complex, custom-built CRM ecosystem. This role will own domain-level architecture, guide modernization efforts, and help shape the future technical direction of customer-facing platforms. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong technical depth and the ability to lead architecture independently.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and lead domain architecture for a large-scale, custom CRM environment.
  • Define and drive architecture strategy for modernizing legacy systems to cloud-based solutions.
  • Act as the central point of accountability for architectural vision, standards, and documentation.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical designs.
  • Guide long-term technical direction, including cloud adoption and readiness for emerging capabilities (e.g., AI-enabled solutions).
  • Review designs, support complex technical decisions, and step in hands-on when needed to unblock teams.
  • Mentor and influence development teams through technical leadership (no direct people management).
Hands-On Expectations
  • Ability and willingness to dive into systems, designs, and code when necessary.
  • Strong preference for candidates who remain technically active, not purely advisory.
  • Comfortable being the sole architect for the domain rather than part of a larger architecture group.
  • Practical problem-solver with real-world implementation experience.
Technical Environment
  • Experience architecting and supporting complex, custom-built enterprise applications.
  • Core technologies include:
    • Java
    • Spring Boot
    • Cloud platforms (AWS preferred; other major cloud platforms acceptable)
  • Front-end and integration experience with modern frameworks and APIs is a plus.
  • CRM experience is beneficial, but experience with custom application architecture is more important than packaged CRM platforms.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong background in software and solution architecture for enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading architecture for complex, distributed applications.
  • Solid cloud architecture experience (platform-agnostic; AWS experience is a plus).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience documenting architectures, defining standards, and guiding modernization efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting or integrating CRM platforms or customer-facing systems.
  • Background working with highly customized, internally built platforms.
  • Exposure to modernizing legacy systems and designing for scalability and future growth.
Additional Information
  • Direct hire position and onsite 5 days a week in downtown Cleveland
  • No direct reports; this is an individual contributor role with strong influence.
