Data Center Technician L1 - NAO

Location: New Albany, OH (Onsite)

Role Overview

Our organization is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician I to support hyperscale data center operations in New Albany, Ohio. This role is ideal for candidates looking to start or grow a career in data center infrastructure, network operations, and critical environment support. The Data Center Technician I will assist with equipment installations, rack-and-stack activities, cabling, hardware replacements, inventory management, and day-to-day operational support in a mission-critical environment. No prior data center experience is required; paid training is provided for individuals looking to build a long-term career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, rack, stack, cable, label, and document server, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Perform basic hardware replacements including drives, memory, power supplies, and network components.
  • Support Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) within the data center environment.
  • Install and manage fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.
  • Perform cable routing, dressing, labeling, and basic cable testing.
  • Execute work according to approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide Smart Hands support for customers, vendors, and engineering teams.
  • Support inventory control, asset tracking, and equipment receiving activities.
  • Maintain accurate ticket updates, work logs, and documentation.
  • Assist with physical audits and infrastructure inspections.
  • Follow all safety, security, and quality requirements within live production environments.
  • Escalate technical issues to senior technicians and site leadership when appropriate.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and emergency response activities when required.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a data center, telecommunications, IT support, audiovisual (AV), low-voltage, electrical, mechanical, construction, manufacturing, cabling, or military technical environment.
  • Basic understanding of computers, networking, and technology infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and technical documentation.
  • Communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass background screening and site access checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with server hardware installation or rack and stack activities.
  • Experience with structured cabling, including fiber optic and copper installation.
  • Experience with low-voltage systems or telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience with Audio Visual (AV) systems installation.
  • Experience with electrical or mechanical equipment installation.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, BICSI Installer, FOA, or OSHA 10.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to distinguish cable and fiber colors.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments within operational data centers.
