Role: Senior Full-Stack Developer (.NET Core/Angular)
Location: Oakland, CA (3 days onsite)
Duration: 6 weeks
Overview: We recently completed a migration of a legacy Microsoft Access application to a modern three-tier web application (Angular front end, .NET Core Web API, SQL Server back end). We are now seeking a senior contractor for a focused 6-week engagement to stabilize, polish, and enhance the converted application. This is not a from-scratch build. The core application already exists; the work centers on refining the user experience, closing gaps from the automated conversion, and delivering a prioritized set of customer-requested enhancements. The ideal candidate is comfortable working within an existing codebase, making additive, non-breaking changes, and delivering iteratively.
Must Have: Angular (Standalone Components, Signals, Reactive Forms, RxJS), .NET Core/C# Web API, SQL Server, Full-Stack Application Enhancement & Maintenance, UI/UX Modernization, Legacy Application Migration (MS Access to Web).
Scope of Work:
- Refine and modernize the UI of the converted web application (layout, navigation, forms, responsiveness, accessibility).
- Implement a prioritized backlog of customer-requested enhancements and feature changes.
- Address post-conversion issues, inconsistencies, and rough edges left by the Access-to-web migration.
- Improve data-entry workflows, validation, and form behavior to match business expectations.
- Ensure changes are additive and non-breaking, with attention to maintainability and auditability.
- Collaborate with our team on requirements clarification, review, and acceptance.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8–10 years of professional full-stack development experience.
- Angular — strong hands-on experience with modern Angular (standalone components, signals, reactive forms; RxJS; component-based architecture). Experience with a component library such as PrimeNG is a strong plus.
- .NET Core / C# — building and maintaining Web APIs, service/business layers, and clean layered architecture.
- SQL Server — schema design, queries, stored procedures, and data-access patterns.
- Proven track record polishing and enhancing existing applications (as opposed to greenfield only).
- Strong UI/UX sensibility and ability to translate business feedback into clean, usable interfaces.
- Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and deliver iteratively against a prioritized backlog.
Nice to Have:
- Experience modernizing or migrating legacy applications (e.g., MS Access → web).
- Experience with Azure services.
- Experience delivering for public-sector / government environments and awareness of related security and compliance expectations.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling.
Deliverables & Expectations:
- A polished, stabilized web application reflecting the agreed UI changes and enhancements.
- Clean, reviewable commits with additive, non-breaking changes.
- Regular progress updates and participation in review/acceptance checkpoints.
