Summary

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

At General Dynamics Mission Systems, we create the technologies, products, and services that help our nation's heroes keep our nation safe. Our engineers support one of the nation's most critical strategic deterrence programs by developing, integrating, testing, and sustaining advanced guidance and telemetry systems used in support of the U.S. Navy Strategic Weapons System.

As a Senior Support Engineer II, you will become part of the engineering team responsible for supporting the Pod Ground Control (PGC) System, the primary ground control and test system used during missile guidance system development, integration, verification, and flight test operations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy solving technical problems, working with hardware and software, supporting mission operations, and collaborating with government and industry partners in a fast-paced engineering environment.

What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum of 2 years of engineering or technical support experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems.
  • Understanding of system integration and engineering test methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, interface documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to support occasional off-site testing and customer operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of the Pod Ground Control (PGC) System.
  • Develop, execute, and document engineering test procedures and operational checkouts.
  • Support laboratory, ground test, and flight test activities by configuring equipment and resolving technical issues during mission operations.
  • Diagnose hardware, software, network, and interface problems while identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support system upgrades, software installations, configuration management activities, and equipment modernization efforts.
  • Generate engineering documentation including:
    • Test Procedures
    • Test Reports
    • Operational Procedures
  • Support customer demonstrations, training events, and operational readiness activities.
  • Travel periodically in support of customer operations, field testing, and flight test events.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and digital engineering tools to improve engineering efficiency and operational effectiveness.
