Position: Database Administrator 2
Location: Austin, TX 78751
Duration: 6+ Months
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days remote, 2 days onsite – Mondays and Tuesdays)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support the planning, development, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of enterprise database systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database administration, data warehousing, performance tuning, security, recovery procedures, and data modeling. This role requires working independently with limited supervision while ensuring database integrity, reliability, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and support database software and database management systems.
  • Perform database migrations and validate functionality, performance, and data integrity following migrations.
  • Analyze, design, modify, and maintain database structures and environments.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain database security controls, user access management, and recovery procedures.
  • Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling and create relational database designs.
  • Support data warehouse initiatives, including data integration, transformation, loading, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, policies, procedures, and data dictionaries.
  • Evaluate database software solutions and recommend enhancements or new technologies.
  • Assist with benchmarking, threshold testing, and capacity planning.
  • Support accessibility compliance requirements related to database interfaces, reporting, and data access tools.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams to gather requirements and implement database solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users regarding data access and reporting needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with database administration and database management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data marts, and decision support systems.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data warehouse environments.
  • Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling methodologies, including:
    • Star Schemas
    • Snowflake Schemas
    • Highly Normalized Data Models
  • Experience with enterprise database platforms such as:
    • Oracle
    • SQL Server
    • Teradata
    • Similar enterprise database technologies
  • Experience with ETL tools such as:
    • Informatica
    • IBM DataStage
    • Similar ETL platforms
  • Experience with analytical and reporting tools such as:
    • Business Objects
    • Cognos
    • Hyperion
    • MicroStrategy
    • Similar BI platforms
  • Strong SQL development and database design experience.
  • Experience with data sourcing, transformation, loading, and reporting processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oracle Database Administration experience.
  • SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) report development experience.
  • M204 database experience.
