Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Controls Director to lead and transform project controls for a $4.75B mega capital project currently in the execution and forecasting phase. This is a Tier 1 leadership role requiring full ownership of earned value, cost, schedule, forecasting, and risk management, with direct visibility to executive stakeholders.

This role is not focused on coordination or reporting it requires a strong leader who can integrate systems, challenge assumptions, enforce accountability, and deliver a clear, data-driven performance narrative.

Current Project Context

• Project is in active construction and forecasting phase
• ~80% detailed design complete (remaining: process piping)
• Foundations & structural steel complete
• MEP installation actively underway
• Building nearing weather-tight stage
• Key Milestones:
  • CUB: Q2 early Q3
  • Mechanical Completion: Aug Oct
  • Testing: Dec Jan

Key Responsibilities

Earned Value & Performance Leadership

• Take full ownership of Earned Value Management (EVM) across the project
• Define planned value and measure actual performance against baseline
• Deliver a clear plan vs. actual narrative with trends, variances, and outcomes
• Provide executive leadership with accurate, data-driven insights

Cost, Schedule & Forecast Integration

• Integrate Primavera P6 schedules, cost data, forecasts, and budgets into a unified performance view
• Work closely with:
  • Cost Controllers
  • Scheduling team (~5 schedulers across project nodes)
• Ensure alignment between CBS, WBS, and schedule logic
• Drive consistency across:
  • Project Controls team
  • GFD Project Controls
  • Portfolio-level controls functions
• Deliver executive-ready consolidated reports (not siloed data)

Risk Management Ownership

• Own the full lifecycle of project risk management, including:
  • Risk identification
  • Quantification (including financial impact)
  • Integration into forecasting and reporting
• Proactively communicate risks and mitigation strategies to leadership

Leadership & Accountability

• Establish a high-performance, accountable project controls function
• Drive ownership across cost, schedule, and forecasting teams
• Challenge assumptions, improve processes, and enforce accountability
• Bring a proactive, results-driven mindset (not passive coordination)
• Lead with strong on-site presence and decision-making authority

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary project controls leader for internal and external stakeholders
• Provide consistent, transparent, and authoritative communication
• Represent the project with credibility across leadership forums
• Ensure no gaps, misalignment, or surprises in reporting

On-Site Leadership

• Maintain strong daily presence on-site
• Drive real-time collaboration and execution alignment
• Lead from the front with visible engagement across teams

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Project Controls / CAPEX Project Management
• Proven experience on mega or large-scale capital projects ($1B+ preferred)
• Deep expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM)
• Hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 (mandatory)
• Strong experience in construction-phase project controls
• Ability to integrate cost, schedule, forecast, and risk into a unified view
• Experience working with executive stakeholders and delivering performance insights
