Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:The City of Virginia Beach Department of Operations and Maintenance is currently looking for an
Engineer I/II/III to join our team. Please apply if you're interested in working with a dynamic and dedicated team! The selected candidate will perform a variety of complex engineering duties, including.
- Performs a variety of engineering duties of a complex nature, which may include any combination of program and project management, infrastructure maintenance and repair assessment, development and review of plans and specifications, project coordination, and management support for operation and maintenance of public facilities.
- Manage and/or assist a section of an operations and maintenance bureau which includes project/program management, personnel coordination/interface and development, budget planning, and management.
- Provide comprehensive engineering and project/program management support in a variety of engineering disciplines, developing storm water maintenance projects, including cost estimates and related project/program management initiatives.
- Manage professional design services and construction services contracts.
- Maintain program and project records and prepare various reports on schedules and budgets.
- Maintain relationships and coordinate activities with Stormwater Operations Superintendents, Supervisors, Technicians, and Engineers.
- Provide professional responses to citizen inquiries.
Minimum Requirements:Engineer I (A12 $63,190.40 - $98,467.20)Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field, or an Associate's Degree with six (6) years of progressive experience in engineering-level work.
Engineer II (A14 $71,739.20 - $111,176.00)Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field with possession of an E.I.T. (Engineer in Training) Certificate and two (2) years of progressive professional experience.
Engineer III (A.17 $83,033.60 - $128,710.40)Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field with possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers, and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA), and five (5) years of progressive professional experience.
