Duties

Help

You will serve as a/an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) Direct Hire Authority and be responsible for Cloud Technology for CGYBER on systems engineering / architecture with a focus on security implementation and configuration.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Performing as a Security Engineers / Architects for Building Security-In
  • Maintaining up-to-the-minute currency on attack techniques being used by adversaries against any of the components being engineered into new, updated systems.
  • Using knowledge of current attacks to identify flaws and weaknesses in the composition and design of networks, remote access schemes, and systems or applications.
  • Specifying solutions and verifying the solutions that have been implemented
  • Rapidly adjusting designs based upon new threat and attack information.
  • Analysis and development of systems/software security through the product lifecycle to include integration, testing , operations and maintenance.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Specialized experience may include the following:

  • A mastery of skill in methods used to evaluate, implement and disseminate IT security tools and procedures
  • A master of skill in IT security certification and accreditation requirements
  • A master of skill in network operations and protocols; or computer forensics principles
  • A mastery of skill in cloud technologies; systems engineering / architecture.
  • A mastery of skill in cloud technologies; security implementation and configuration.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
