About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior TIBCO Administrator to join our Integration Platform team. In this role you will be responsible for the design, deployment, administration, and continuous improvement of our enterprise TIBCO middleware stack - spanning BusinessWorks 5.x / 6.x, TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition (BWCE), TIBCO Enterprise Message Service (EMS), and TIBCO Enterprise Administrator (TEA). You will work closely with development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure integration services across on-premises and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
TIBCO Platform Administration
Install, configure, patch, and upgrade TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.x and 6.x engines and domain infrastructure.
Deploy and manage TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition (BWCE) applications on Docker/Kubernetes - both on-premises and cloud-hosted clusters.
Administer TIBCO Enterprise Message Service (EMS) - manage servers, queues, topics, bridges, clustering, failover, and user/ACL configurations.
Operate and maintain TIBCO Enterprise Administrator (TEA) for centralized agent and application lifecycle management.
Monitor service health, application logs, thread dumps, and memory usage; diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Define and enforce TIBCO domain security policies, SSL/TLS configurations, and credential management.
DevOps, CI/CD & Automation
Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines for TIBCO deployments using Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD.
Manage source code, branching strategies, merge requests, and release tagging in GitLab.
Write and maintain automation scripts for deployment, health checks, log collection, and environment housekeeping using Unix Shell and/or Python.
Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices for TIBCO environment provisioning.
Collaborate with the DevOps team to containerize legacy TIBCO workloads and migrate them to BWCE where applicable.
Reliability, Monitoring & Observability
Integrate TIBCO platform metrics and logs with enterprise observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace, ELK).
Establish alerting thresholds, runbooks, and on-call procedures for critical TIBCO services.
Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery exercises.
Maintain SLA compliance for middleware services across all environments (DEV, QA, STAGE, PROD).
Collaboration & Governance
Define and enforce change management procedures for PROD TIBCO configuration changes - including JIRA-tracked approvals, GitLab branch hygiene, and staged validation gates.
Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) for TIBCO integration patterns and best practices.
Partner with application developers to review integration designs, EMS messaging patterns, and deployment architectures.
Mentor junior administrators and document platform standards, runbooks, and architecture decisions.
Required Qualifications
Core TIBCO Experience
8+ years of hands-on TIBCO middleware administration experience.
Proven expertise in TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.x - domain management, deployment descriptors, BW engine configuration, and fault handling.
Strong experience with TIBCO BusinessWorks 6.x - palette usage, shared modules, process engine sizing, and monitoring.
Hands-on experience with TIBCO BusinessWorks Container Edition (BWCE) - containerization, Docker builds.
Deep knowledge of TIBCO EMS - clustering, failover, bridges, destination-level security, durable subscribers, and performance tuning.
Proficient with TIBCO Enterprise Administrator (TEA) - agent management, application lifecycle, and monitoring dashboards.
DevOps & Scripting
Solid experience with GitLab - branching models (GitFlow or trunk-based), MR/PR workflows, protected branches, and pipeline YAML.
Proficiency in Jenkins - Jenkinsfile authoring, shared libraries, multi-branch pipelines, and artifact management.
Strong scripting skills in Unix/Bash - startup/shutdown scripts, cron automation, log parsing, and environment management.
Working knowledge of Python - automation scripts, REST API integrations, and configuration management utilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with TIBCO Spotfire, TIBCO Jaspersoft, or TIBCO Data Virtualization for observability or reporting integrations.
Familiarity with Helm, ArgoCD, or FluxCD for GitOps-based deployment of containerized TIBCO workloads.
Exposure to service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) for microservices traffic management.
Knowledge of Apache Kafka or other messaging platforms - useful for hybrid EMS/Kafka integration patterns.
Experience with Terraform or Ansible for IaC provisioning of cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Awareness of emerging iPaaS and API Gateway tools (e.g., MuleSoft, Apigee, AWS API Gateway) to support platform evolution roadmap.
TIBCO certification (e.g., TIBCO BW Certified Administrator or Developer) is a strong plus.
Soft Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability in high-pressure production incidents.
Excellent written and verbal communication - ability to produce clear runbooks, ADRs, and RCA reports.
Collaborative mindset - comfortable working across development, QA, infra, and security teams.
Self-driven learner who proactively evaluates emerging middleware and integration technologies.
Ability to mentor junior team members and lead technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
