Travel: Approximately once every 2 3 months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support an Agile team within a State Government environment. The Scrum Master will guide teams in applying Agile/Scrum practices, facilitate collaboration and decision-making, remove delivery impediments, and coach teams toward continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have strong Scrum Master experience, Scrum certification, Change Management expertise, and experience working on State Government projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide teams and organizations in applying Agile/Scrum best practices, methodologies, and values.
• Assess Scrum maturity and coach teams toward improved Agile practices and performance.
• Identify and remove impediments that impact team productivity and delivery.
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, team discussions, decision-making, conflict resolution, and team-building activities.
• Support effective communication and transparency across teams and stakeholders.
• Work closely with Product Owners to support backlog grooming, refinement, and maintenance.
• Help teams effectively utilize Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and/or XP.
• Support Agile delivery using a servant-leadership approach.
• Encourage continuous improvement and help teams adopt sustainable Agile practices.
• Support project communication, reporting, timelines, and other Agile/product management documentation as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.
• Scrum Master certification such as CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent.
• State Government experience is mandatory.
• Experience with Change Management.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum principles and practices.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and resolving team impediments.
• Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Product Owners, technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile tracking tools.
• Experience developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Experience creating and maintaining:
  • Product timelines
  • Status reports
  • Communication plans
  • Agile/project documentation
• Experience with multiple Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or XP.

Additional Requirement

• Candidates must be able to provide 3 professional references, with one reference from each of their last 3 projects.
• Candidates must be willing to visit Baton Rouge, Louisiana, approximately once every 2 3 months.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a certified Senior Scrum Master with 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams, proven State Government project experience, and strong Change Management skills. Experience with JIRA/Azure DevOps and Agile performance metrics is highly desirable.
