We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Techno-Functional Architect to support the Defined Concept phase of Cardinal Healths NDC/UPC Reform initiative. The architect will lead enterprise discovery workshops, map current-state system and data flows, assess integration impacts, and drive architectural alignment across SAP, WMS, EDI and serialization platforms.
Required experience
12+ years in supply-chain or pharmaceutical IT
Deep integration knowledge: SAP ECC/S4, EDI (X12), WMS integrations, serialization/EPCIS
Strong understanding of data modelling and field-level impacts
Proven ability to lead enterprise architecture workshops and communicate with Director/VP level stakeholders
Experience in regulatory-driven programs (e.g., DSCSA, serialization)
Preferred skills
Pharmaceutical distribution domain knowledge
Experience with Manhattan WM/MAWM
Familiarity with GTIN/NDC standards
Ability to create architecture diagrams in Lucid or Visio
Strong documentation discipline
Key responsibilities
1. Lead structured workshops across IT and business domains, facilitating cross-team architectural discussions, capturing risks, constraints and integration gaps, and driving consensus on scope boundaries.
2. Document end-to-end NDC/UPC data flows and analyze impacts on SAP item master, Manhattan WMS integrations, EDI 850/856/810 transactions and EPCIS/serialization events.
3. Perform technical impact analysis for transition from 10-digit to 12-digit NDC, including schema changes, payload impacts (REST, EDI, Kafka) and external trading-partner transactions.
4. Drive architecture alignment, evaluate refactor versus middleware alternatives, ensure regulatory compliance and contribute to blueprint solution direction.
5. Produce deliverables such as enterprise impact maps, integration dependency matrices, current- and future-state data-flow diagrams, risk registers, blueprint-level solution recommendations and executive-ready architecture summaries.
