Embedded DevOps Engineer (Linux / BSP)

Job Responsibilities:

• CI/CD Pipeline Architecture: Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (using [Jenkins / GitLab CI / GitHub Actions]) tailored specifically for cross-compiling embedded C/C++ code and generating full OS images.
• Embedded Linux Build Management: Maintain and optimize custom Linux distributions using build systems like Yocto Project or Buildroot. Manage caching and build times for large firmware images.
• BSP Integration: Work alongside firmware engineers to integrate, version-control, and automate builds for Board Support Packages (BSPs), including device trees, bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot), and kernel modules.
• Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Automation: Develop infrastructure to automatically flash firmware onto physical test racks and execute automated test suites on real hardware triggered by pull requests.
• OTA & Artifact Management: Manage the versioning, storage, and secure delivery of firmware binaries for Over-The-Air (OTA) update systems (e.g., Mender, RAUC, SWUpdate).
• Environment Standardization: Use containerization (Docker/Podman) to provide reproducible, isolated build environments for developers and the CI system.

Job Description:

• DevOps & CI/CD: 3+ years of experience designing automated CI/CD pipelines. Strong proficiency in pipeline-as-code and artifact management (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus).
• Embedded Linux: Deep understanding of Embedded Linux architecture. Hands-on experience with Yocto Project (BitBake, writing recipes) or Buildroot.
• BSP & Hardware Basics: Understanding of hardware bring-up concepts, bootloaders, the Linux kernel boot process, and cross-compilation toolchains.
• Scripting & Automation: High proficiency in Bash and Python for automating system-level tasks and interacting with APIs.
• Version Control: Advanced Git knowledge, including complex branching strategies and resolving merge conflicts in large repositories.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Note: GlobalLogic estimates the starting pay range for this role to be performed remotely to be $115,000 to $125,000 and reflects base salary only. This pay range is provided as a good-faith estimate, and the amount offered may be higher or lower.
