Who we're looking forOur IT Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated DevOps Engineering Lead - Deployment Governance.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and own the end-to-end deployment process across multiple applications, ensuring high-quality, controlled releases into the QA environment. This role will serve as the technical authority for deployment readiness, working closely with internal teams and external vendors to review code, enforce quality gates, and manage risk.
Reporting to the OneTech BEV Platform Senior Manager, the person in this role will support the organization's objective to deliver stable, scalable, and secure software releases while improving deployment discipline and transparency across stakeholders.
This position is based in Liberty, NC at the Toyota Battery Manufacturing, NC. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location.
What you'll be doing- Take ownership of the deployment lifecycle for multiple applications, ensuring consistency, reliability, and traceability
- Serve as the final technical reviewer and approval authority before vendor-led code deployments into QA environments
- Design, implement, and continuously improve deployment gates, quality checks, and release criteria
- Partner with development teams and vendors to validate code readiness, configuration, and environment alignment prior to release
- Establish and enforce best practices for CI/CD pipelines, version control, and release management
- Collaborate with QA, product, and business stakeholders to align deployment schedules and priorities
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with code changes, integrations, and environment dependencies
- Troubleshoot deployment issues and provide technical guidance to resolve blockers quickly
- Translate complex technical concepts, risks, and issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Drive accountability across internal teams and vendors to meet deployment standards and timelines
- Document deployment processes, standards, and governance models to support scalability and consistency
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to streamline deployment workflows and reduce cycle time
- Support audit readiness by maintaining clear documentation and traceability of releases
What you bring- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, release engineering, or software deployment management
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Strong understanding of software deployment processes, environment management, and release governance
- Experience reviewing code, configurations, and deployment artifacts for production readiness
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams and communicate effectively with both audiences
- Experience coordinating with third-party vendors or external development teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and make informed deployment decisions
- Ability to support weekends, off shift, and holidays as needed
Added bonus if you have- Experience designing or governing multi-application deployment pipelines in complex environments
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Experience implementing automated quality gates, testing frameworks, or security checks in CI/CD pipelines
- Background in regulated environments requiring audit trails and release documentation
- Experience with Agile delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps Boards)
- Exposure to manufacturing systems, MES integrations, or operational technology environments
