Data Architect
Position Overview
We are seeking a Data Architect to define and guide the data strategy behind our Java-powered Health Action Platform. This role is responsible for shaping how data is represented, stored, and synchronized across a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) environment. You ll play a critical part in ensuring the platform supports reliable, secure, and highly available data operations across distributed services.
Key Responsibilities
Domain-Centric Data Modeling
Use DDD methodologies to establish bounded contexts and build data models that accurately reflect nuanced healthcare workflows and business rules.
Relational Data Architecture
Design, tune, and maintain relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) optimized for performance, transactional stability, and scalability.
Event-Driven Synchronization
Architect asynchronous data pipelines and event-driven coordination using technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ to ensure state consistency across services.
Java Ecosystem Integration
Collaboration with backend engineering teams to ensure microservices built with Java and Spring Boot interact efficiently with the data layer, including finetuning JPA/Hibernate performance.
Healthcare Data Compliance & Standards
Ensure that the data architecture adheres to the requirements of regulated healthcare environments, including HIPAA controls and compatibility with standards like HL7/FHIR.
Required Technical Background
Java Data Expertise
Strong understanding of Java-based data persistence, concurrency considerations, and how the language ecosystem interacts with modern storage technologies.
Advanced Relational Database Skills
Expertise in SQL, indexing, query optimization, and schema evolution practices within continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines.
Domain-Driven Design Application
Hands-on experience structuring Aggregates, Value Objects, and context boundaries within distributed microservices systems.
CQRS & Event Sourcing Familiarity
Working knowledge of real-time data patterns that support immediate notifications, health actions, and synchronized state transitions.
Scalability & Security Focus
Experience working with large, sensitive healthcare datasets with emphasis on auditability, data protection, and secure architectural design.
