Title: Linux System Administrator
Location: Remote
Duration: 6+ month
Rate: $40/hr - $50/hr on c2c
Roles and responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to own and optimize our Linux infrastructure supporting mission-critical retail platforms across cloud and on-premise environments. This role goes beyond traditional administration you will be responsible for end-to-end lifecycle management, from OS architecture and kernel tuning to automation, performance optimization, and hardware-level troubleshooting. You will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security in a distributed, production-critical environment.
- Deep understanding of the OS
- Perform and Recommend when an upgrade is needed
- Fix any remote hardware issues.
Must-Have Skills
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration
- Strong understanding of Linux internals (processes, memory, filesystems, networking)
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible preferred)
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, load balancing)
- Experience managing production systems in cloud or hybrid environments
- Kernel-level expertise (boot process, GRUB, kernel tuning/compilation)
- Experience troubleshooting hardware issues in remote environments
- Virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware)
The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
The salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all U.S. locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Final compensation decisions will depend on the unique facts and circumstances of each candidate.
