About the Role

The Center for the Economics of Ideas is looking to hire a remote UI/UX designer on a contract basis to establish a unified visual identity across multiple software products that are under development. The center’s apps are education-focused. Your input will make them inviting, intuitive, and engaging. You''ll collaborate closely with our development team to ensure every product is usable, attractive, and consistent with the other apps. Among these three goals, usability the most important. This is an opportunity to shape the look and feel of an entire product ecosystem from the ground up.

Responsibilities

Identify and resolve user experience challenges across multiple products
Create and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI standards
Produce mock-ups, assets, and design specifications for developers
Build a cohesive visual identity that unifies our product suite
Design experiences that motivate and encourage learners to engage with our apps
Partner with developers throughout the design and build process to ensure usability and consistency

Requirements

A strong portfolio showcasing recent application/product design work (required for consideration)
Deep understanding of usability and accessibility standards
A strong foundation in HTML, CSS and modern design tools
Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to Have

Knowledge of Python and PyQt
Experience designing for educational products
