Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UAS systems. The ideal candidate operates at the intersection of mechanical and software disciplines - this dual expertise is the core of what we do. Responsibilities include the timely resolution of issues affecting hardware, software, and user permissions, as well as routine hardware maintenance.
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to assist in maintenance and routine service of our remote controlled devices. The qualified candidate will bring a strong combination of hands-on mechanical aptitude and software proficiency, enabling them to diagnose and resolve issues across the full system stack - from physical assemblies to embedded software. You will be part of a larger development effort working independently in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot UAS hardware and software systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and service of remote controlled devices
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across the full system stack, including physical assemblies and embedded software
  • Resolve hardware, software, and user permission issues in a timely manner
  • Perform precision assembly and integration work using hand tools, drawings, and CAD files
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while working independently

Basic Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience working across both mechanical/electrical systems and software environments - candidates must be comfortable moving between a workbench and a command line
  • Mechanical and electrical integration or assembly experience
  • Basic engineering knowledge: mechanical, electrical, software
  • Experience in installation of sub-assemblies and assemblies while
  • Able to perform precision work with hand tools
  • 2 years experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in industry or military
  • Proficiency with basic computer concepts, PC hardware and software troubleshooting, and workstation hardware
  • Working knowledge of at least one operating system environment (Windows, Linux/UNIX, or macOS)
  • Basic understanding of networks including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Windows Server networking
  • Employees must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift up to 50 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Valid Driver's License and able to satisfy driver eligibility criteria
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the year

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python preferred) to support hardware diagnostics, automation, or data collection
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Linux in a technical/maintenance environment
  • Experience creating CAD files based on loose specifications
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware, or hardware-software integration points
  • Experience in aerospace, robotics, or UAS operations
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux/UNIX systems
  • Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, Apple ACMT/ACSP, or Cisco CCNA certifications
  • BS Degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3-6 years relevant work experience
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and ambiguity
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain customer focus, stay motivated, and be proactive
  • Insist on the highest standards from self and others

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
