Job Title: IT Generalist

Compensation: $65000 - $80000 annually
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, some evening and weekends required
System One has partnered with a growing organization that is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Generalist to oversee all aspects of the organization''s technology operations. This individual will serve as the primary technical resource—managing systems, supporting staff, maintaining security and compliance, and ensuring reliable, efficient, and secure technology performance across the office.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys broad responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to directly influence the stability and security of a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & End-User Assistance
- Provide day-to-day technical support to attorneys and staff (Windows, macOS, mobile devices).
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls across systems.
- Offer training and onboarding support for new hires on firm systems and applications.
Systems Administration
- Manage and maintain servers, workstations, printers, and network infrastructure.
- Oversee Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure AD, and SharePoint environments.
- Monitor system performance and implement updates, patches, and upgrades.
- Administer and support specific applications such as:
- Document management systems (NetDocuments, iManage, SharePoint)
- Coordinate with vendors for software troubleshooting and updates.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Maintain and enhance cybersecurity posture, including:
- Endpoint protection and EDR tools
- Firewalls and secure remote-access solutions
- Email security and anti-phishing tools
- Ensure compliance with privacy and legal industry standards (e.g., ABA cybersecurity guidelines, HIPAA when applicable).
- Conduct periodic risk assessments, backups, disaster recovery, and incident response planning.
Infrastructure & Network Management
- Manage routers, switches, Wi-Fi, and LAN/WAN configurations.
- Oversee cloud and local servers, virtual machines, and storage solutions.
- Monitor uptime, availability, and network health.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations.
- Establish IT best practices, security protocols, and firm technology policies.
- Continually improve processes to enhance efficiency and user experience.
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of hands-on IT experience, ideally in a small professional services environment.
- Broad expertise across systems administration, networking, security, and user support.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Azure AD, and modern security tools.
- Ability to manage technology autonomously and support a wide range of needs.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent.
- Experience with VoIP systems, cloud migrations, and backup/DR platforms.
