Job Description

The Director of Product Engineering (Platform Owner) ensures strategic alignment, governance, and delivery excellence for one or more enterprise technology platforms. Blending product-engineering leadership with formal Platformaccountability, this role drives platform vision, architecture decisions, stakeholder engagement, and quality outcomes while overseeing the full product lifecycle from concept to launch.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Alignment & Vision Define and sustain a clear platform vision aligned with corporate and business-unit strategy.
    Prioritize and execute initiatives per Steering Committee (SteerCo) directives and ROI.Architecture & Technology Governance Make informed architecture decisions; champion cloud-native, event-driven, and DevSecOps patterns.
    Enforce enterprise architecture standards and best practices.Stakeholder Engagement Own communications with SteerCo, senior business sponsors, and peer platform owners.
    Serve as the primary escalation point for platform-related issues.Quality & Performance Assurance Ensure deliverables meet schedule, quality, and performance targets (SLIs/SLOs).
    Drive continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and root-cause analysis.Delivery & Team Leadership Lead multiple on-shore and off-shore software teams (managers & senior managers) delivering innovative technology solutions.
    Mature Agile practices; leverage data for predictability, capacity planning, and cost management.
    Coach and develop engineering and product managers, fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture.Product Strategy & Road-mapping Define product strategies, OKRs, roadmaps, and success metrics; communicate progress to leadership.
    Balance new features with technical debt remediation and platform health.Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Architecture, Cyber Security, Data, and adjacent platform teams to align dependencies and integration patterns.
    Coordinate release planning, change-management, and user-enablement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • 15 + years of progressive product-development experience, including 5-7 years leading multi-team engineering organizations.
  • Proven expertise in Agile delivery models and modern SDLC, CI/CD, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Certifications: Agile Certified Professional (required); Certified Scrum Master (preferred); Certified Agile Leadership (preferred).
  • Hands-on familiarity with Azure, GitHub, DevOps pipelines, API design, DataOps, OpenAI/GenAI, Angular (or comparable front-end frameworks), and event-driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated success in setting platform vision, making architecture trade-offs, and engaging executive stakeholders.
