Job Overview

We are seeking a Transmission Line Principal Engineer to lead and manage the design of high-voltage transmission line projects supporting Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage initiatives. This role will oversee projects from early-stage development through construction and commissioning, ensuring design quality, compliance, and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage transmission line design projects from concept through execution
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants; oversee outsourced design work
  • Define project scope, requirements, and technical strategy in early-stage development
  • Support competitive transmission proposals and greenfield project initiatives
  • Develop scope of work, evaluate bids, and manage vendor selection through supply chain
  • Coordinate routing, permitting, and engineering data (geotechnical, LiDAR, survey)
  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables (IFB, IFC, As-Built drawings, etc.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management, construction, and stakeholders
  • Support cost estimation and provide value engineering recommendations
  • Present project updates, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in high-voltage transmission line design, engineering, and construction
  • Strong knowledge of transmission line design principles and standards
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (one-line diagrams, profiles, layouts, etc.)
  • Proven project management and coordination skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel across North America

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
  • Experience in project engineering or project management
  • Proficiency with tools such as PLSCADD, AutoCAD, Primavera, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience supporting large-scale renewable energy or transmission infrastructure projects
