Lead DevOps Engineer (App Dev)

Overview

As a Lead DevOps Engineer at Codex Studios, you will spearhead the engineering of build systems for Windows, Mac, and Chromebook platforms, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and repeatable. You will assess and improve web module bundlers, build tooling, and monorepo workflows using tools like NX. Your role will also involve evaluating and optimizing Electron-based desktop build architecture, as well as designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions using AWS CloudFormation and CDK.

Responsibilities

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, and CodePipeline.
• Improve dependency management and release governance.
• Troubleshoot build, deployment, and infrastructure issues as an escalation point.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, and business stakeholders to streamline delivery.
• Mentor engineers in DevOps practices and drive improvements in build time.
• Hands on Infrastructure as Code experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK
• Experience improving dependency management and vulnerability remediation
• Proven CI and CD pipeline design and maintenance using GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild
• Strong web component bundler expertise including assessing, refactoring, and explaining configuration changes
• Deep hands on experience with Windows build environments and Windows OS level considerations
• Strong AWS experience including services such as CloudFormation, CloudWatch, CloudFront, DynamoDB, EC2, ECR, ECS, IAM, Lambda, Route53, S3, and VPC

What You Bring

• 5+ years in DevOps, build engineering, or platform engineering roles.
• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK.
• CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance expertise.
• Deep experience in Windows build environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization
• Background building applications with C++
• Experience with Electron in desktop applications
• Experience in large monorepo environments using tools like NX
• Experience formalizing Git branching and release strategies across teams
• Experience evaluating or migrating away from Electron based architectures
• Enterprise scale DevOps experience in regulated or structured environments
• Experience with operational support using tools such as PagerDuty
