Work Model: Hybrid, 3 days per week in office
Contract Duration: 12 months, with intent to extend up to 24 months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software/Data Engineer to join a Capital Markets Investment Banking Technology team in Charlotte, NC.

In this role, you will help support the expansion and modernization of front-office technology capabilities, with a particular focus on risk, capital, and data modernization. You will design and develop scalable solutions within the existing technology ecosystem, helping strengthen the current platform while creating reusable products and services that can be leveraged by other applications.

The ideal candidate brings strong SQL Server expertise, hands-on Python development experience, and a solid background building data-intensive or distributed applications.
What You'll Do

• Analyze and interpret the organization's Data Modernization strategy across impacted technology and business disciplines.
• Design, develop, and implement scalable, high-quality data solutions.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define and formalize business requirements.
• Translate business requirements into detailed technical requirements and solution designs.
• Develop applications and data solutions using SQL Server and Python.
• Build and support distributed applications, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Develop reusable technology components that can be integrated with other internal applications.
• Participate in Agile development workstreams and manage development activities through Jira.
• Collaborate with engineering, risk, capital, and front-office technology teams.
• Leverage DevOps practices and tools to support automated development, testing, and deployment.
• Help improve engineering efficiency and increase delivery capacity within the Agile development environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, including advanced SQL development and working with relational data.
• Professional software development or programming experience using Python.
• Experience in data engineering and/or full-stack application development.
• Experience using Python data-processing frameworks or libraries such as Pandas, Polars, PyTorch, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing or developing distributed applications.
• Experience working with relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing or working within microservices architectures.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and automated deployment toolkits.
• Experience working within an Agile software development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience working within Capital Markets, particularly investment banking or front-office technology.
• Familiarity with risk disciplines, including Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk.
• Knowledge of derivative products, financial risk management, and financial product data modeling.
• Experience or familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies.
