Senior Dynatrace Engineer (Monitoring & Observability) – Hybrid

FutureSoft Consulting Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Dynatrace Engineer to support enterprise monitoring and observability initiatives for a large public sector infrastructure environment. This role will be responsible for implementing and optimizing monitoring solutions across infrastructure, applications, and cloud platforms to ensure high availability, performance, and operational reliability.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Dynatrace APM, enterprise infrastructure monitoring, and performance troubleshooting across distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Observability

• Configure, maintain, and optimize Dynatrace monitoring solutions across enterprise systems.

• Provide end-to-end visibility across infrastructure, applications, and services.

• Design and maintain dashboards, alerts, health checks, and performance metrics.

• Establish monitoring baselines, KPIs, and SLA-driven alert thresholds.

Infrastructure Monitoring

• Monitor Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure.

• Track performance and availability across VMware environments and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

• Monitor databases, middleware, and network components.

• Identify capacity trends and proactively address infrastructure issues before they impact production.

Application Performance Monitoring

• Use Dynatrace to analyze application performance, transaction flows, and service dependencies.

• Support synthetic monitoring and real user monitoring (RUM).

• Partner with development and infrastructure teams to improve application performance visibility.

• Assist in troubleshooting complex performance issues across distributed systems.

Incident Support

• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting related to system performance and availability.

• Provide monitoring insights during root cause analysis investigations.

• Identify monitoring gaps and implement improvements.

Continuous Improvement

• Enhance monitoring standards, operational documentation, and monitoring strategies.

• Recommend improvements for alerting frameworks and monitoring architecture.

• Support integration between monitoring platforms and IT Service Management (ITSM) tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support, or monitoring roles.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.

• Strong experience with:

  • Windows and Linux server environments

  • Virtualization technologies such as VMware

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)

• Experience with Dynatrace Managed to SaaS migration.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing.

• Experience with enterprise log analysis and ITSM tools such as Jira or ServiceNow.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or automation scripting.

• Exposure to Kubernetes or containerized environments.

• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring frameworks and observability strategies.

• Knowledge of ITIL practices and enterprise operations environments.

• Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect are a plus.
