Software Developer - Intern

Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats. We are seeking a motivated and talented Entry-Level Software Engineer to join our team. This is an onsite position, requiring the employee to work at our designated office location. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a passion for designing, developing, and maintaining innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug control and diagnostic systems.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers to plan and develop electronic data processing systems.
• Analyze system capabilities to determine end-user needs and resolve program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition.
• Ensure compliance with hardware and software standards.
• Design and implement build procedures to support hardware and software product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use, as needed.
• Train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and software quality standards, as applicable.
• Contribute to control modeling (model-based design).

Qualifications:

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field) or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Desired Certifications:

The candidate may possess one or more of the following certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
• AWS Certified Developer - Associate
• Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE Programmer
• CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+)
• Software development methodology certification (e.g. SCRUM Master) highly desired.
• GitHub or GitLab Certifications

Additional Information:

• This is a hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be required to periodically work at our Nightwing Location (Sterling, VA).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with software development tools and methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of software configuration management tools and quality standards is a plus.
