Backend Engineer

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Backend Engineer Quantico, VA.

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop, and support large-scale applications and enterprise systems. This role will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, production support, and ongoing enhancements. The ideal candidate has strong experience of building scalable backend services, APIs, databases, and cloud-ready solutions while working in Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities:
* Backend Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and server-side services
* Translate business and user requirements into technical solutions and production-ready features
* Support development, staging, and production environments
* Design and optimize NoSQL databases, data structures, queries, and ETL processes
* As a Backend Engineer, you will troubleshoot issues, enhance application performance, and implement new functionality
* Develop monitoring, logging, auditing, and alerting solutions
* Maintain code quality, version control, build automation, and release processes
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of experience; Or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of experience
* 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
* 4+ years translating business requirements into technical designs and deployed solutions
* Strong experience with Java, JavaScript, NoSQL databases, Linux, Docker/Podman, Ansible, and Git
* Experience developing RESTful APIs, supporting production environments, and optimizing application performance
* Knowledge of Agile development practices and DevOps methodologies

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
