Data Center Cable Technician

Job Overview

TEKsystems is seeking Cable Technicians to support large-scale data center infrastructure builds. This role is ideal for technicians with hands-on structured cabling experience who are comfortable working in active construction and data center environments.
Technicians will be responsible for installing, routing, and terminating copper and fiber cabling while supporting the physical layer of the data center network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and install copper and fiber optic cabling throughout the data center
• Lay out and install:
  • Cable tray, wireway, bus duct
  • J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, trapeze systems
• Build and complete network closets, including:
  • Mounting backboards, racks, and cabinets
  • Installing patch panels, fiber enclosures, and cross-connects
• Perform pre-termination work:
  • Measuring cable length and slack
  • Dressing, labeling, and organizing cables
• Terminate Cat6 cabling and assist with fiber terminations as required
• Complete all terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels)
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling
• Read and interpret blueprints, prints, and project documents
• Operate hand and power tools including cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers
• Follow all safety, quality, and site-specific procedures
• Complete required documentation such as time tracking and work orders

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of commercial structured cabling experience (mandatory)
• Experience pulling copper and fiber in a commercial or data center environment
• Working knowledge of:
  • Network equipment
  • Cat6 termination
  • Fiber optics
• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes
• Proficiency with common low-voltage hand and power tools
• Reliable transportation to job sites
• Strong attendance, work ethic, and ability to work on a team

Work Environment

• Construction and data center environment
• Steel-toe boots required
• PPE must be worn on-site

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Social Circle, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
