Job Title: Senior Power BI Architect (Power BI Specialist)

Location: Charlotte, NC 28255 (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)
Duration: 12–18 Months Contract (Long-Term)
Visa: W2 candidates with a minimum of 12 months validity

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power BI Architect (Power BI Specialist) to support and enhance an enterprise-scale BI environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in Power BI along with strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, driving Power BI adoption, supporting enterprise users, and establishing best practices across the BI ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports using DAX, Power Query, and advanced data modeling techniques
• Provide enterprise-level support for Power BI including dataset refresh issues, gateways, permissions, and performance tuning
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex BI environment issues across tenants
• Lead COE (Center of Excellence) office hours, training sessions, and user enablement programs
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable BI solutions
• Drive adoption of Power BI best practices and governance standards
• Support and guide teams on implementing Power BI capabilities effectively
• Work in Agile environments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of overall IT experience
• 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
• Strong expertise in:
  • DAX
  • Power Query
  • Data Modeling
  • Report & Dashboard Design
• Solid SQL skills
• Strong troubleshooting experience in Enterprise BI environments
• Experience resolving:
  • Dataset refresh issues
  • Gateway configurations
  • Security & permissions
  • Performance bottlenecks
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI Premium and Microsoft Fabric capacities
• Knowledge of SSRS modernization and migration to Power BI / PBIRS
• Experience working with or contributing to a BI Center of Excellence (COE)
• Experience mentoring developers or conducting training sessions
• Familiarity with:
  • BI governance frameworks
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) / Object-Level Security (OLS)
  • Secure data practices
