Summary

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to lead the architecture, design, and technical implementation of scalable enterprise applications for the Roche GIP program. The role will focus on medical imaging platforms, AI/ML-enabled applications, and Algorithm Workbench capabilities, supporting both greenfield development and brownfield modernization.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Angular 19, Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and AWS, with the ability to collaborate with data scientists, algorithm engineers, business stakeholders, and development teams.

Key Responsibilities

Application Architecture: Design scalable, secure, cloud-native applications using Angular 19, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS services.

Frontend Architecture: Define reusable Angular components, UI architecture, state management, performance optimization, and frontend integration patterns.

Backend & Microservices: Architect Java/Spring Boot services, API integrations, asynchronous processing, and event-driven solutions.

AWS Cloud Architecture: Design cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, and IAM.

Medical Imaging & Algorithm Workbench: Define integration patterns supporting medical imaging workflows, algorithm execution, data processing, and AI/ML model lifecycle management.

System Integration: Design secure interfaces between enterprise applications, imaging repositories, data platforms, and algorithm services.

Technical Leadership: Guide development teams, review solution designs, establish coding standards, and ensure architecture consistency.

DevOps & Security: Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines, containerization, automated deployments, monitoring, and secure development practices.

Architecture Governance: Produce solution architecture diagrams, technical design documents, API specifications, and architecture decision records.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, data scientists, QA, validation teams, and product owners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

8–12+ years of experience in application development, solution architecture, or enterprise application design.

Strong hands-on expertise in Angular (preferably Angular 19), TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.

Proven experience designing microservices-based, distributed, and cloud-native applications.

Strong experience with AWS architecture, including compute, storage, networking, security, and deployment services.

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing frameworks.

Understanding of application security, OAuth2/OIDC, authentication, authorization, and API security.

Experience leading technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and development teams.

Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies and enterprise SDLC practices.

Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or medical imaging domains.

Familiarity with DICOM, imaging workflows, and imaging data management.

Experience integrating applications with Python-based AI/ML services, model inference APIs, or data science platforms.

Exposure to AI/ML Algorithm Workbench environments and scientific computing workflows.

Understanding of regulated software development, GxP, software validation, and data integrity requirements.

Experience with both greenfield application development and modernization of legacy enterprise platforms.
