Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps (ADO) Practitioner / Technical Lead to support a Seattle-based client in transitioning to a centralized Azure DevOps environment. This is a functional/consultative role (NOT development-focused) where you will act as an ADO Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advisor.

You will partner closely with leadership, TPMs, and portfolio stakeholders to ensure Azure DevOps is properly structured, configured, and aligned with enterprise standards for reporting, governance, and future portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as an Azure DevOps SME, providing guidance on best practices, standards, and governance
• Collaborate with project leadership to translate portfolio and reporting requirements into ADO configurations
• Design and validate work item hierarchies, fields, processes, queries, and dashboards
• Build and maintain ADO dashboards and native reporting (no Power BI)
• Guide teams on Service Tree alignment and proper data structuring
• Support onboarding of TPMs and teams into ADO following defined standards
• Provide clear, patient support for day-to-day ADO-related queries
• Bridge the gap between business/portfolio needs and ADO capabilities
• Ensure ADO setup supports future application-based portfolio management

Required Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO)
• Deep understanding of ADO architecture, structure, and limitations
• Expertise in ADO dashboards, queries, boards, and reporting
• Experience with work item types, processes, and customization
• Knowledge of Service Tree concepts and service mapping
• Familiarity with Azure/Microsoft governance standards
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Experience working in advisor/consultant roles (non-development)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Microsoft FD&E / FDNE environments
• Background as a TPM / Program Manager / ADO Administrator
• Experience in large-scale ADO implementations or migrations
• Interest or exposure to Copilot / AI tools

• Strong communicator who can work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable guiding teams rather than executing development tasks
• Experienced in enterprise-level ADO setup and governance
