Job Title: AI Data Governance Specialist
Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Duration: 8-month W2 contract with possible extension
Pay Rate: $75–$85/hour (depending on experience)
Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Overview
Russell Tobin is supporting a leading enterprise retail organization in hiring an AI Data Governance Specialist. This role is focused on establishing and scaling AI/ML data governance practices, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and well-managed data across enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement AI/ML data governance frameworks, standards, and policies
- Ensure data quality, lineage, and integrity across AI/ML pipelines
- Oversee data lifecycle processes including ingestion, labeling, feature engineering, and model input readiness
- Partner with data science, engineering, and business teams to drive governance best practices
- Conduct bias assessments and support responsible AI initiatives
- Maintain governance processes for feature stores, model registries, and data versioning
- Lead cross-functional discussions to promote governance adoption and compliance
Required Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in data governance or data stewardship
- 3–5 years of experience specifically focused on AI/ML data
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments
- Retail industry experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of AI/ML data pipelines (ingestion, labeling, feature engineering)
- Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Azure ML, SageMaker, or Databricks
- Experience with data governance/catalog tools (Collibra, Atlan, Alation, Informatica)
- Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Understanding of feature stores, model registries, and data versioning
Governance & Compliance
- Ability to design and enforce AI data governance policies and standards
- Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and responsible AI frameworks
- Experience conducting data quality checks, bias reviews, and maintaining data lineage
Business & Leadership Skills
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Excellent communication skills across both executive and technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional governance initiatives and drive adoption
- Experience in process improvement and implementing governance workflows
Soft Skills
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving AI environment
