Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a
Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake/AWS/Glue) for a
long-term contract assignment with one of our premier Management Consulting services clients in
Atlanta, GA. This role will be fully remote supporting EST hours.
The role will conduct independent data pipeline development, working with consumers and source data teams, within our Enterprise Data Warehouse. We need someone with strong Snowflake and AWS skills, particularly in Glue - more Snowflake heavy than Glue, however. Need good business understanding and communication skills as the role will involve solving business use cases and validating business scenarios in the data. Responsibilities :
- As a Database Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and optimize databases to ensure efficient and reliable data storage and retrieval. You will collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to analyze business requirements and implement database solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Your role will also involve monitoring database performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensuring data security and integrity.
- Design, develop, and implement database solutions to support business applications and processes.
- Collaborate with software developers to define database requirements and design efficient data models.
- Develop and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and other database objects.
- Optimize database performance by analyzing query execution plans, indexing strategies, and database configurations.
- Monitor database performance and capacity, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, such as data corruption, connectivity problems, and performance degradation.
- Implement database security measures to protect sensitive data, including user access controls and data encryption.
- Plan and execute database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and database schemas.
- Collaborate with system administrators to ensure database availability, reliability, and scalability.
- Stay updated with emerging database technologies and industry best practices and recommend improvements to existing database systems.
- Provide technical guidance and support to software developers and other stakeholders.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of 6-9 years of experience with strong knowledge of database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with database query optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with database design principles and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for databases.
- Familiarity with database administration tools and monitoring systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot database issues efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and willingness to continuously learn and improve.
