Product Owner - Outage Data & Reporting Modernization

Locations: Charlotte, NC

Type: W-2 Contract

Initial assignment: 18 months, with strong potential to extend/convert

Schedule: Hybrid

Location: Prefer Charlotte, NC area. In order to convert, the candidate would need to be local to corporate locations, including Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; St. Petersburg, FL; Cincinnati, OH; and Plainfield, IN.

The 2 main skill sets are:
1) Experience with modern data architecture product management
and
2) Experience with outage management, utility operations, reliability reporting, SAIDI, SAIFI, CMI

Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Product Owner to lead and govern the delivery of a large-scale outage data and reporting modernization initiative. This role sits at the intersection of business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring that complex operational needs are translated into clear, prioritized requirements that enable successful implementation of modern, cloud-based data solutions.
The Product Owner III will be responsible for organizing, prioritizing, and driving delivery across multiple stakeholder groups, serving as the central point of coordination between outage management users, subject matter experts, and IT teams executing the technical work. This role does not perform hands-on development but requires deep experience guiding data-centric products and reporting solutions through delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary Product Owner for outage data and reporting modernization initiatives.
Act as the central liaison between business users, operational SMEs, and IT delivery teams.
Elicit, define, and manage business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Translate outage management and operational reporting needs into structured, prioritized product backlogs.
Govern delivery to ensure alignment with business objectives, timelines, and quality expectations.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across enterprise IT, analytics, and operational teams.
Support migration from legacy reporting infrastructure to cloud-native data platforms.
Ensure reporting solutions support key outage and reliability metrics (SAIDI, SAIFI, CMI).
Participate in roadmap planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and stakeholder communications.
Provide clarity and prioritization in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Required Qualifications
5 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Senior Product Owner.
Strong experience operating as a traditional product owner in enterprise environments.
Demonstrated success working between business stakeholders and IT/data engineering teams.
Experience with data-centric products, reporting platforms, or analytics solutions.
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent organizational, prioritization, and delivery governance skills.

Preferred / Highly Desired Experience
Experience with outage management, utility operations, or reliability reporting.
Familiarity with outage metrics such as SAIDI, SAIFI, and CMI.
Experience with modern data architectures (data lakes, data fabrics, cloud reporting).
Exposure to cloud data platforms (AWS or similar).
Experience in regulated or critical-infrastructure environments
