Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer to lead complex engineering projects supporting advanced manufacturing, integration, and test initiatives. The role involves collaboration with the Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Management, and Business Capture teams to define project scope, allocate resources, and manage schedules and costs. This position is a central contributor throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design to delivery and post-delivery support, ensuring engineering excellence and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute advanced engineering tasks involving complex features, conflicting requirements, or unconventional materials.
- Develop innovative solutions to engineering and manufacturing challenges.
- Establish objectives, timelines, and budgets for complex assignments.
- Lead and supervise small to moderately sized technical and production engineering teams, monitoring progress and ensuring adherence to objectives.
- Collaborate with customer technical representatives to define and manage expectations.
- Review and approve Engineering Work Packages and Engineering Change documentation.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable Naval, military, and commercial standards.
- Support Manufacturing, QA, and Purchasing departments throughout production and test cycles.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean, Nuclear, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in complex systems design, fabrication, manufacturing, or integration. Strong knowledge of military and commercial material and construction specifications relevant to Naval and Submarine systems is required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, Naval specifications, and Special Emphasis Program requirements.
Must be able to perform effectively in an AS-9100 certified environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with submarine structural fabrication, welding requirements, and NAVSEA specifications (Tech Pub 1688, 278, or 248).
- Familiarity with NAVSEA URO/MRC programs.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
