Job Overview:
The GIS Technician I will be responsible for editing GIS to display Fiber cable installations. The role involves working with GIS and database applications that model electric utility distribution systems and fiber optic cables. The candidate must understand functional business processes related to design, construction, and operations, as well as possess a working knowledge of data attributes supporting these processes. The position requires creating a connected model replicating the electric distribution system, performing QA/QC processes, and being available for emergency and planned overtime.

Responsibilities:

• Edit GIS to display Fiber cable installations.
• Work with GIS and database applications modeling electric utility distribution systems and fiber optic cables.
• Understand and apply functional business processes related to design, construction, and operations.
• Create a connected model replicating the electric distribution system.
• Perform and manage QA/QC processes.
• Be available for emergency and planned overtime as needed.

Qualifications:

• GIS education or certification.
• Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Richmond, VA, with flexibility for remote work after training (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
• Understanding of data attributes supporting business processes in design, construction, and operations.
• Flexibility to work varied start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM after training.
